EC's Crossroads Festival 2007

Wed, January 30, 2008

Good Morning!

I have been viewing the Crossroads Festival from 2007 the past several days while running on my treadmill (yes, though I despise doing exercise, I walk/run on a daily basis).  If you haven't yet seen this I suggest you purchase it -- you won't be sorry.

I thought the first Crossroads Festival from 2004 was great. This one is even better due (IMHO) to the fact that it was not as long and seems to be a bit more organized. Most of the performances are simply amazing. BB King's comments on EC make me get a bit emotional. There simply is no living musician/guitarist alive today that can really compare. Just think back on his career and all the musicians he's worked and recorded with, not to mention all the great songs he's written. Add to that the fact that he's been able to "reinvent" himself not just once, but several times throughout the decades, and he's still on top today. It's really unbelievable. This is one of the reasons that we present our Eric Clapton Retrospective and again, IMHO, that it is so well received; everyone just loves this man's music!

So view this dvd at your earliest convenience. If you are anything like me,  you'll want to watch at least portions of it over and over again. The Jeff Beck segment--forget about it! And Stevie Winwood--OMG! We have tickets--with the rock and roll dentist and his lovely wife-- to see EC and Steve Winwood at Madison Square Gardens on February 25th. I am really looking forward to it and promise you a great report.

I gotta go run and watch some more Crossroads...have a lovely day.
